Jul. 14 - Madagascar, which once had a thriving silk industry, attempts to reintroduce an almost-extinct native silk-worm in order to restore the industry to its former glory.
Madagascar has its own wild silk-worms, which are indigenous to the Indian Ocean Island and whose threads were used to weave fabric long before cultivated silk was first introduced in the 17th Century.
Now, populations of the nearly extinct worm are being replenished - and the silk industry is coming back to life in Madagascar's villages.
